The 6th Amendment of the Bill Of Rights requires that persons accused of a crime have a “speedy” trial. One of the reasons our Founding Fathers understood this amendment was necessary was to prevent the ruling State from locking up dissidents or State political criminals allowing them to languish in confinement for an indeterminate amount of time. This confinement was used to punish individuals for thought crimes against the ruling class limiting their influence on the public. An obvious abuse of power!

I see the suspension of Bro. Rumsey as the same abusive mechanism in play. I am surprised that Grand Lodge law facilitates the use of an extended trial and judgment for a whole year. The tyranny of the State returns. There needs to be a change in GL law, similar to the 6th amendment of the Constitution of the United States to force the resolution of charges against a Brother in a timely manner.
I am looking for someone with similar feelings to help draft a resolution addressing this abuse. It is to be submitted to the next communication.
